We all have it, the terrible, horrible, no-good day! Check out these 5 steps to stop the bad day in it's tracks.

You know the ones I'm talking about, where you just want to scream in frustration or anger or sadness. These aren't my favorite days and I bet you don't like them either. Am I right?

It doesn't matter what is causing the terrible, horrible, no-good day

I know, you are thinking “of course it matters”. We get stuck on what happened to cause us to be so unhappy and it seems like such a big thing it overwhelms everything else.

But it really doesn't matter.

Just follow along and give my tips try. I know you will feel better.

First, Go somewhere quiet and private.

Verbally express it

Yell and scream what you've been holding inside. It's time to let out the terrible, horrible, no-good day.

Physically express it

A pillow or a punching bag would be great to use here. (Don't hurt yourself!)

You will feel a physical release. Recognize that you can express and release those emotions without hurting anyone!

What do you want?

What do you want out of this situation. Now that you are in the quiet state having released those emotions verbally and physically reflect on the situation so you are clear on a resolution or just how to handle it better the next time.

Create an affirmation

It could be something like:

  • I am calm and centered
  • I can handle any situation that arrives

Whatever feels right to you. Say that affirmation out loud, stand in a power pose and repeat that affirmation.

Re-assess – how do you feel now?

If you need more to get back to a good state, treat yourself

  • Get yourself a coffee
  • Read a book
  • Take a bath
  • Call a friend
  • Listen to your favorite song
  • Go to a movie
